Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov met with Valeriia Ionan — a global partnerships development strategist and innovator — who has become his advisor on international projects.
The head of the defense ministry announced this on his channel on January 23.
“From now on, she is my advisor on international projects. Valeriia worked for over six years as part of the Ministry of Digital Transformation team, leading key national projects, regional digitalization initiatives, and European integration efforts”, — he wrote.
According to him, she coordinated international communication with global technology companies such as Google, Cisco, Microsoft, Palantir, IBM, as well as with international organizations and governments around the world.
She was also involved in coordinating the Tallinn Mechanism — an international initiative that has already allocated €241.7 million for Ukraine’s cyber resilience.
“Valeriia is the ideological inspirer of many global projects and facilitated the opening of the world’s second GovTech Center in cooperation with the World Economic Forum in Kyiv. The President personally did historic work to attract international resources. Our task is to use them as effectively as possible. That is why our current focus is systematic international support for the country’s defense projects”, — the minister emphasized.
Mykhailo Fedorov noted that existing partnerships must be strengthened and new ones opened to achieve victory over the enemy.
“We highly value cooperation with international partners and will continue to deepen this interaction. Valeriia continues to work internationally with governments and companies on designing and scaling technology-oriented public-private partnerships.
Therefore, her experience will strengthen our work. This year, our goal is to increase the volume of international military assistance and build real win-win relationships focused on results”, — he stated.
The minister added that integrating partners — including their scientific and research potential — will make Ukraine’s defense system stronger while simultaneously enhancing their own defense capabilities.
“There are several areas we are beginning to work on right now. We are auditing existing international projects and building new strategic partnerships, namely long-term alliances with countries, foundations, and technology leaders. We have a shared vision for working with partners. We are working to strengthen Ukraine’s position in the world and to turn international support into concrete results for the country. Welcome to the team”, — he concluded.
