Today, January 20, Ukraine honors the memory of the defenders of Donetsk Airport — warriors who became a symbol of modern Ukrainian courage and determination.
This was stated in a message by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The defense of the airport became an example of brotherhood, loyalty to the oath, and strength of spirit. During this time, Ukrainian soldiers proved to the entire world that spirit is stronger than concrete.
They were called “cyborgs” because the enemy could not believe that a human being could fight like that. For us, they are Ukrainian warriors — people of honor, courage, and deep love for Ukraine. They defended not only the destroyed terminals — they defended faith in freedom and the Ukrainian state.
Today, amid the full-scale war, the spirit of Donetsk Airport lives in every Ukrainian unit, in everyone who fights despite fatigue, pain, and losses.
They remind us that freedom is never given without struggle, and a state does not exist without those ready to defend it. As long as we remember this, the country has a future.
