On the Huliaipole axis, Russian forces continue attempts to seize the city of Huliaipole itself. The enemy is attacking the outskirts of the city and wiping out nearby villages with airstrikes.
This was reported on air by Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine, during a broadcast on Suspilne Novyny.
According to him, the situation in the Huliaipole area and near the nearby villages of Zelene and Varvarivka remains tense. The enemy continues attempts to encircle Huliaipole from the north. Attacks south of the city are also ongoing.
“Here, on the Huliaipole and Orikhiv axes, we are facing Russia’s Fifth Army. Their tactic is the use of small units and infiltration groups deep into our defenses. The fighting is essentially the same — the enemy is trying to get as deep as possible. To wedge in, to get into our rear”, —said the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine.
The adversary is conducting an increasing number of assault actions, attempting to push Ukrainian Defense Forces out of positions on the northern, northeastern, and southern outskirts of Huliaipole. The enemy is delivering powerful strikes, including by aviation.
“Over the past day alone, for example, the enemy used three and a half dozen guided aerial bombs on the small settlement of Zaliznychne — the ‘Huliaipole’ railway station — because our forces were holding positions there and did not allow them to advance. The enemy decided to level this settlement to the ground with airstrikes”, — Voloshyn noted.
