Albania has declared its intention to join the PURL program in 2026 — a U.S.- and NATO-initiated initiative aimed at providing Ukraine with critically important weapons through financing by Alliance members for the supply of U.S.-made weapons and equipment.

This was stated by Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, during a meeting in Kyiv with Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka.

The Albanian Foreign Minister confirmed her readiness to continue supporting Ukraine, including on its path toward EU membership, as well as in the process of recovery and the development of economic cooperation.

The parties also discussed prospects for deepening trade and economic relations, including the possibility of working on a bilateral Free Trade Agreement.

The ministers agreed to continue close communication and coordination at both political and technical levels on the path to European integration.

Special attention was paid to supporting Ukraine in the energy sector. The Ukrainian side expressed gratitude to Albania for its solidarity and assistance and emphasized the importance of further coordination within the framework of the European integration process.
