President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the protection of energy facilities and Ukraine’s needs with Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov and Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Anatolii Kryvonozhko.
He spoke about this on January 15 in his evening address.
“Today, there were again severe strikes on Kharkiv — specifically on critical infrastructure, missile strikes. ‘Shaheds’ both in the morning and now in the evening against Kyiv. The situation is difficult in border regions. It is also important to strengthen Dnipropetrovsk region and Odesa — we will be engaging more with partners”, — the Head of State noted.
He reported on his conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, including discussions on the PURL program and Ukraine’s capabilities to purchase missiles for air defense.
“We also talked about diplomatic work with America — Ukraine has never been and will never be an obstacle to peace. It is precisely Russian missiles, Russian ‘Shaheds’, and Russia’s attempts to destroy Ukraine that are clear evidence that Russia does not need agreements at all.
When, because of Russia, Ukrainians have no electricity for 20–30 hours, and when Russian strikes are aimed at breaking our energy system and our people, it is Russia that must be pressured. We will conduct our diplomatic work much more actively — both public and official, as well as non-public and unofficial”, —Volodymyr Zelenskyy assured.
