Fighters of the 225th Assault Regiment held positions for a full 90 days and then successfully returned to the rear.
They spoke about this during a stream on Army TV.
“When we went into the positions, we thought it would be like the previous rotation: a month — go in and come out. Basically, no one really questioned how long we would stay there…
From my experience, entering and exiting positions is the scariest part.
Our task was that we stayed in our ‘foxholes’ at the positions for two to three days, then we were given an assignment — we had to go for a walk.
We understood for ourselves that we were going in to do the job, to clear the area”, — said fighter Oleh.
The soldiers took with them half a thousand rounds of ammunition and three grenades, as well as food for several days. Later, food supplies were delivered by drones.
“They dropped different kinds of food to us: porridges, sausage, lard, bread. Plus what we ordered: gas canisters, a burner, hand and foot warmers, pants for some, thermal underwear for others. There are no problems with that. If you dig in deep, I wouldn’t say it’s cold there. Especially since you have a sleeping bag and winter clothing”, — Oleh said.
Water was also delivered to the fighters by drones.
“Two liters of water was enough for me for more than a day. Now it’s winter, so you don’t really feel like drinking that much. Moisten your throat — and you can live. But in summer, that’s very little”, — Oleh said.
According to him, thoughts about his family helped greatly while staying in the positions.
“I know my daughter is waiting for me. That helps me a lot. When someone needs you, you want to live”, — Oleh said.
