Foreign Intelligence Service: the Kremlin is preparing a large-scale provocation to derail peace talks

Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service warns of the continuation of a Kremlin special operation aimed at derailing peace negotiations mediated by the United States.

This is stated in a message on the FIS website.

“This operation is comprehensive in nature. After the so-called ‘attack on Putin’s residence,’ we are recording the Kremlin’s dissemination of new fabricated information pretexts to prepare Russian and foreign audiences for further escalation”, — the statement said.

Intelligence assesses with high probability a transition from manipulative influence to an armed provocation by Russian special services with significant civilian casualties. The expected timing is on the eve of or during the celebration of Christmas according to the Julian calendar. A religious site or another object with high symbolic value in Russia or in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine may be chosen as the location.

To falsify evidence of Ukraine’s involvement, fragments of Western-made strike UAVs are planned to be used, delivered to the site of the provocation from the line of contact.

“Exploiting fear and carrying out terrorist acts with civilian casualties under a ‘false flag’ fully corresponds to the operational style of Russian special services”, — the FIS emphasized.

The intelligence service recalled that Putin’s regime has repeatedly used this tactic inside Russia, and this same model is now being exported abroad, which is indirectly confirmed by public statements from senior Russian officials.

“We urge the media to question and carefully verify materials published by the Kremlin and not to disseminate Russian fakes”, — the FIS statement said.
