President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in his evening address on December 25, spoke about further work in the areas of diplomacy, strengthening the Armed Forces, and increasing pressure on Russia.

The Head of State published the address on social media.

Diplomatic efforts

The President reported that active diplomatic negotiations took place throughout the day, including an almost hour-long conversation with representatives of the President of the United States — Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

According to the President, the discussion was substantive and detailed, and some of the developed ideas are already being formalized in documents. At the same time, work on sensitive issues is ongoing.

The President also noted that Rustem Umerov will continue negotiations with the American side later that same day. According to him, the coming weeks may be intensive.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the United States and all partners who continue to put pressure on Russia, emphasizing that prolonging the war must have tough consequences for the aggressor.

The President also reported a conversation with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. The parties discussed further joint steps, including taking into account Ukraine’s contacts with the American side.

The Head of State noted that he plans to hold talks with other European leaders so that all partners act at the same pace and with a single goal — achieving real security, recovery, and peace.

Situation at the front and support for the Armed Forces

The President reported on a briefing by Pavlo Palisa regarding decisions that strengthen Ukraine’s capabilities at the front. On the same day, he also signed decrees awarding Ukrainian servicemen with state honors.

“Everyone who is currently defending our positions, everyone who is now on combat missions, on combat posts, everyone who is providing Ukraine with protection from Russian assaults and Russian strikes — all of you, our warriors, are making our diplomatic positions stronger. Thank you! Thank you to everyone who fights for Ukraine as for themselves! Christ is born! Let us glorify Him!” —  the Head of State said in his address.
