Coordination headquarters and the EU advisory mission strengthen partnership on issues of captivity and reintegration
Head of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War Kyrylo Budanov and Secretary of the Headquarters Dmytro Usov held a working meeting with a delegation of the EU Advisory Mission to Ukraine (EUAM).
This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters.
The European delegation included Head of Mission Rolf Holmboe, his deputy Mia Rahunen, as well as EUAM programme leads and representatives of the Ukrainian Centre “Space of Dignity”.
Key topics of the meeting
During the talks, the parties discussed a range of issues related to the activities of the Coordination Headquarters, in particular:
- communication with and support for families of prisoners of war and missing persons;
- implementation of humanitarian projects and involvement of partners in rehabilitation and reintegration programmes for those released from captivity;
- challenges in the negotiation process and in obtaining information about defenders;
- the need to strengthen international expertise and create additional support mechanisms for families.
Special attention was paid to the institutionalisation of the Coordination Headquarters and the formation of a permanent state structure that will systematically coordinate the search and registration of missing persons, as well as the process of returning citizens from Russian captivity.
