On the Lyman axis, the situation remains difficult. The enemy does not abandon attempts to assault our forward positions with its numerous infantry. They try to “fly in” to positions on motorcycles; assaults using heavy equipment also take place.
This was reported on Army TV by Vasyl Denysiuk, a sergeant of the 66th Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Mstyslav the Brave.
According to him, Russian units receive reinforcements so quickly and frequently that it seems they can continuously assault positions from different directions at the same time. In addition, Russians periodically try to reach the forward line on motorcycles. The use of armored vehicles is becoming more frequent.
“So far, these are not massive columns, but isolated vehicles. Still, we do see such attempts. We destroy armored vehicles both directly on the forward edge and detect them farther from the line of contact, deeper in the enemy rear, camouflaged in tree lines — equipment being prepared for subsequent assaults”, — said the sergeant of the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Mstyslav the Brave.
As for assaults, the Russians do not conduct regular rotations. Units are not withdrawn; instead, fresh reserves are brought in. A company-level unit is the lowest level that can be pulled back from the line of contact. It is withdrawn only when it has suffered critical losses of over 90% — and even then only to be replenished with new recruits and sent back. The newcomers are thrown into subsequent attacks.
“The command understands that a small infantry group is unlikely to achieve any significant result and will most likely be ground down. But these new infantry groups move accompanied by enemy drones — reconnaissance and strike ones. And if such a group manages to engage our infantry at a position, then over many hours or even several days that position will be methodically destroyed. Only then do the next waves of assaults take place”, — Vasyl Denysiuk noted.
