President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the deployment of the Russian ballistic missile system “Oreshnik” to the territory of Belarus is nearing completion.
This was stated in his message on December 19.
“We understand where it will be deployed. We are passing this information to our partners. Our partners can independently assess this threat and understand how to respond to it. We previously warned our European and American partners that Russia would deploy ‘Oreshnik’ on the territory of Belarus. We demonstrated the range at which ‘Oreshnik’ would operate”, — he wrote.
According to him, this poses a threat to many European countries, including Poland, Germany, and others.
“Today, ‘Oreshnik’ cannot be intercepted by drones. They used ‘Oreshnik’ against the territory of Ukraine. We understand how to counter it. We asked our partners to impose sanctions on companies located both in Europe and on other continents that sell components suitable for ‘Oreshnik’ through third countries. I do not see these sanctions being imposed”, — Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
As he emphasized, Russia will continue producing the Oreshnik.
“We understand the number of systems. They are not doing this randomly. My question is quite logical. If our partners — the United States and others — are making significant diplomatic efforts to end the war, can they apply the same pressure on Russia so that it does not deploy ‘Oreshnik’ closer to Europe, closer to the borders with Poland? I believe this must be addressed”, — the President stressed.
