Kalibr Carriers Hit: Security Service of Ukraine Reveals Details of the Strike on Novorossiysk
Units of Ukraine's Defence Forces have struck enemy targets in Novorossiysk.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported this.
Carrying out a task set by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Security Service of Ukraine, together with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Defence Intelligence, the State Border Guard Service, the Ukrainian Navy and other components of the Defence Forces, conducted a large-scale special operation at the Novorossiysk naval base, as well as at port and oil infrastructure facilities in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai.
As a result of the attack, hits have been confirmed on two Kalibr carriers — the frigates Admiral Essen and Admiral Makarov — as well as on the patrol ship Vasily Bykov.
The following were also struck:
- a 30N6E radar station, part of the S-300 air defence system;
- a mobile fire team on Pier No. 2 of the port of Novorossiysk;
- the tunnel portal of the Grushovaya oil depot, part of the Sheskharis terminal;
- the infrastructure of Berths No. 3, No. 6 and No. 7.
Ukrainian drones, Palianytsia jet-powered drones, Neptune missiles and strike systems launched from Ukrainian maritime platforms accurately engaged the designated targets.
The Novorossiysk naval base is one of the key facilities of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet and its main stronghold in the Black Sea.
The enemy relocated a significant part of its ships there following successful special operations by Ukraine’s Defence Forces, after it lost the ability to base them safely in temporarily occupied Crimea.
Striking this base is of strategic significance. The Security Service of Ukraine is steadily reducing Russia’s ability to control the Black Sea and to use its navy to wage war against Ukraine.
