Ukraine and Finland are preparing a Drone Deal — Volodymyr Zelenskyy
In Ankara, Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with the NATO Secretary General and the President of Finland on air defense and defense cooperation.
This was announced by Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
During talks with Mark Rutte, the President informed him about the consequences of the latest Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities and communities. The main focus was strengthening air defense, particularly the need for the fastest possible deliveries of missiles for air defense systems.
“Right now, it is critically important that all channels supporting the protection of our skies — both bilateral and multilateral — operate as actively as possible”, — Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
The parties also discussed additional allied contributions to the PURL program, the establishment of an anti-ballistic coalition, the development of joint weapons production, and the expansion of defense cooperation between Ukraine and NATO member states.
According to the President, Mark Rutte highly praised the actions of Ukrainian troops, their effectiveness in inflicting losses on the Russian army, and the results of Ukraine’s long-range strikes. Following the talks, the parties agreed to promptly implement the agreements reached.
During his meeting with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Volodymyr Zelenskyy also focused on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and ways to further enhance it.
The President thanked Finland for its unwavering support for Ukraine and discussed with the Finnish leader the steps that could strengthen Kyiv’s defense and diplomatic positions in the near future.
The parties also devoted special attention to preparing a bilateral agreement under the Drone Deal framework and agreed to continue work toward its signing.
In addition, Alexander Stubb informed the Ukrainian President about his contacts with leaders of other countries regarding ways to end the war.
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine and Finland agreed to continue coordinating their efforts to achieve results important for the security of Ukraine, Finland, and Europe as a whole.
