Second strike in a week: SSU hits aircraft at Saky Air Base and Shahed drone hangars at Hvardiiske
The Security Service of Ukraine has carried out another drone strike against the Saky and Hvardiiske military air bases in temporarily occupied Crimea.
The SSU announced the operation in an official statement.
The strike was conducted as part of a 40-day campaign aimed at reducing Russia’s military potential, which the Security Service is carrying out under the directive of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
At Saky Air Base, seven aircraft hangars used by Russian forces to shelter Su-30SM, Su-30 fighter aircraft and Su-24 frontline bombers were hit.
According to preliminary information, at least seven aircraft were destroyed or damaged.
The SSU emphasized that this was already the second successful strike on Saky Air Base this week.
At the same time, Ukrainian drones struck two hangars at Hvardiiske Air Base, where Russian forces stored Shahed-type attack drones and aviation equipment.
According to the Security Service, Saky and Hvardiiske are among the key air bases of Russia’s military grouping in occupied Crimea.
Russian tactical aircraft regularly take off from these bases to launch missile and aerial bomb strikes against Ukraine and to support Russian occupation forces operating on the southern front.
“The Security Service of Ukraine continues to carry out the tasks assigned by the President of Ukraine and is systematically reducing Russia’s military potential. Every one of our special operations means fewer enemy aircraft, less logistics, fewer warehouses, less equipment, and less infrastructure supporting Russia’s aggression”, — said SSU Head Yevhenii Khmara.
According to him, the Security Service will continue striking both frontline enemy positions and military infrastructure deep inside the enemy’s rear, depriving Russia of the resources it needs to continue its war against Ukraine.
