Yurii Ihnat: Czech training aircraft will be used to train future military pilots
Ukraine has received light training aircraft from the Czech Republic.
They will be used to train cadets of the Flight Faculty of the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University.
In an exclusive comment to ArmyInform, Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Colonel Yurii Ihnat stated that the new aircraft are intended for the initial stage of flight training. It is on these aircraft that cadets will take to the skies for the first time alongside an instructor before progressing to solo flights after mastering basic flying skills.
“Flight training is preceded by a full course of general and theoretical instruction. After mastering light aircraft, future pilots move on to training with L-39 jet trainer aircraft, and the final stage is mastering combat aircraft”, — Yurii Ihnat emphasized.
According to him, this three-tier training system is already in use at the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University. The arrival of the new aircraft will expand the university’s training capabilities and increase the number of cadets able to undergo initial flight training simultaneously.
“A key feature of the transferred aircraft is their adaptation to modern Western piloting, navigation, and communication systems. This will help Ukrainian cadets adapt more quickly when transitioning to more advanced types of aircraft and eventually mastering modern combat jets. Previously, the Air Force leased such aircraft from flying clubs; these aircraft will now be owned by the Ukrainian Air Force”.
The delivery of the new training aircraft marks another step in developing Ukraine’s military pilot training system in line with modern standards and the operational needs of the Ukrainian Air Force.
