By April 1, Russia plans to increase the number of its unmanned systems forces to 101,000 servicemen.
This was reported on the evening of March 12 by General Oleksandr Syrskyi following a meeting on the development of unmanned systems.
“The war has entered a new stage. The expansion of the ‘kill zones’ is becoming a consequence of the growing capabilities of strike UAVs.
To win this technological war, Ukraine needs to increase the pace of development of effective unmanned systems, their procurement for the army and their use on the battlefield”, — Oleksandr Syrskyi said.
According to him, intelligence reported that this year the Russians are accelerating the creation of UAV units, trying to influence the course of combat operations, particularly in southern directions, where our enemy is losing initiative and territory.
In total, in February our drones hit more than 105,200 enemy targets. A quarter of them were accounted for by the grouping of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to maintain an advantage in the use of FPV multirotor drones, although the Russians have already gained the capability to produce more than 19,000 FPV drones per day”, — Oleksandr Syrskyi reported.
Over the month, our drones hit about 4,200 enemy pilot positions.
Also, in order to counter enemy strike drones, UAV interceptor platoons are being created within units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Their task is to destroy FPV drones, quadcopters, and enemy strike UAVs, as well as improve logistics for our troops. Anti-drone rifles, electronic warfare systems, net launchers and other means are used.
“I would also like to emphasize the importance of developing the direction of ground robotic systems. Over the past month they have carried out more than 2,300 missions — mostly logistical, but there are also engineering and combat ones”, — the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.
During the meeting, reports were also heard on the development of electronic warfare, the training of UAV pilots and interceptor drones.
“I set new tasks regarding the development of unmanned systems structures. I gave instructions to resolve problematic issues and ensure the supply of units and training centers.
It was undoubtedly useful to hear live, substantive reports from representatives of combat units who share their experience in the use and development of wheeled ground robotic systems and aircraft-type strike UAVs, ‘kamikaze wings’, and so on.
I thank the soldiers for their effectiveness, dedication and creative approach to work.
Everything that makes the life of an infantryman easier must be introduced into the troops, and in this context the expansion of unmanned systems is our number one task”, — Oleksandr Syrskyi noted.

Over the past day, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces grouping hit or destroyed 1,294 enemy targets.
On the night of March 13, Russia carried out a combined air strike against Ukraine: the enemy launched one ballistic missile and about 126 strike UAVs.
Over the past day, the army of the aggressor state lost 860 personnel, two air defense systems, seven tanks and four MLRS.
A fighter with the call sign “Chef” from the “Perun” Battalion of the 42nd Brigade used to run a kitchen in civilian life, and now commands an FPV crew.
Reconnaissance soldiers of the Flamberge unit of the 2nd Battalion of the 3rd Assault Brigade not only took prisoners but also filmed it on a GoPro.
The first days were remembered by the brothers-in-arms as an exhausting search for at least some shelter.
