With improved weather conditions, the enemy has significantly increased the use of strike and reconnaissance fixed-wing UAVs on the Orikhiv axis.
However, thanks to the skill of Ukrainian drone operators, enemy UAVs are detected and shot down within minutes.
This was reported during an Army TV stream on March 11 by Captain Dmytro Pelykh, head of the communications section of the 118th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
— The weather has improved, it’s sunnier, and the drone component has increased many times over.
The enemy has increased the launch of reconnaissance drones, but we have also noticed a significant rise in “Molniya” drones.
Unfortunately, the enemy has plenty of them and is trying to destroy our logistics this way, he said.
Heavy bomber-type copter drones similar to the Ukrainian “Vampire” have not yet been observed on the Orikhiv axis.
Instead, the sky is full of Russian strike and reconnaissance fixed-wing UAVs.
— I’ve seen heavy bomber drones on other axes, but not yet on ours.
Here they are actively launching “Molniyas”. Also strike drones such as “Lancets”, and reconnaissance UAVs like “Zala”, “Supercam”, and “Veshchiy Oleg”, — the officer noted.
Nevertheless, Ukrainian drone operators are effectively countering the enemy and shooting down dozens of Russian drones every day.
— Our countermeasures are very effective. Just a month ago a new crew started operating in the battalion, and under normal weather conditions they already shoot down more than a dozen “Molniyas”.
There are also UAV interceptors, and there is even competition over who will shoot down the enemy strike drone first.
In other words, we give them no chance to reach our rear areas and strike either military or civilian targets, the serviceman assured.
Enemy strike UAVs are detected and destroyed within minutes.
— In fact, we noticed that earlier “Molniyas” flew at low altitudes, but now they climb to more than a kilometer, and we still find them there.
As for evasive maneuvers, it depends on the pilot. An experienced pilot can launch the “Molniya” in waves, but this is completely ineffective.
Our guys have far greater experience and quickly stop such attempts.
We have even reached our own records: interceptor crews detect these “Molniyas” within four minutes. From the moment it takes off, four minutes pass — and the drone is already destroyed.
Just yesterday there were two such cases, — Dmytro Pelykh said.
The enemy is attempting to develop the production of naval drones and copy successful Ukrainian practices — both technical solutions and tactics.
