President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree enacting a decision of the National Security and Defense Council on the application of sanctions agains
This was reported by the Office of the President on March 10.
The sanctions package includes 41 judges, of whom 38 are Russian citizens, while three are collaborators.
They issued illegal prison sentences against prisoners of war and support and justify Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
Among those sanctioned is a Russian judge who within one week handed down sentences to nine Ukrainian prisoners of war in fabricated terrorism cases.
Ukraine also imposed sanctions on former Ukrainian citizens who, in temporarily occupied Donetsk, sentenced volunteers to death — two British citizens and one Moroccan who defended Ukraine as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and were captured by Russian forces.
Among the sanctioned judges are also those who made illegal rulings against public figures, activists, and journalists because of their political and religious beliefs.
“Sanctions against so-called ‘judges’ who mass-produce politically motivated sentences against our citizens and our warriors are a matter of justice. It is especially shameful to see among them former Ukrainians who knowingly became collaborators and turned the court into an instrument of repression”, — said Vladyslav Vlasiuk, Advisor — Presidential Commissioner for Sanctions Policy.
