The change of climatic seasons and improvement of weather conditions have a significant impact on the course of combat operations in the Pokrovsk direction.
Currently, a period is underway when visibility has already significantly improved due to the absence of precipitation and fog, while leaves have not yet appeared on the trees.
This makes logistics and offensive actions extremely difficult, which has forced the enemy to minimize activity in this direction.
This was reported during an Army TV stream on March 9 by the chief of staff of the ranger battalion of the 152nd Separate Ranger Brigade named after Symon Petliura, Dmytro Kushko.
“Over the past month, the situation has changed mainly due to the weather. Right now we are in a transitional period when the fogs have ended and the rains have ended, when drone reconnaissance used to be conducted with significantly poorer quality.
At the same time, the greenery has not yet appeared. That means any movement, both from our side and from the enemy’s side, is highly visible.
Therefore, the enemy has minimized its efforts regarding movement. Active assaults by large groups are almost absent. They are trying to conduct infiltration with small groups of one or two people in order to identify our positions and strike them, disrupting our logistics”, — he said.
With the change in weather conditions, the activity of enemy UAVs has increased significantly.
“Now the weather is much better, clear days are coming. The enemy is using the entire spectrum of its drones — reconnaissance ones, the so-called Molniya drones have begun flying deep into our rear approaches. FPVs have increased significantly.
It was noticeable that during bad weather they were saving them, but now they are using at full capacity all types they can — fiber-optic ‘waiter’ drones and regular drones. The saturation is very, very high.
Reconnaissance of what are conditionally rear positions has also intensified. With ‘Mavics’ they try to fly in and hover for at least some time to see what is happening on our approaches, and then strike if they detect anything.
Logistics have become even more difficult, but this is a period that will last until the foliage appears, so it is necessary to minimize movement, which is what we are doing. The enemy is probably also preparing something and accumulating something, because it is making very, very few movements”, — the serviceman suggested.
Despite minimizing movement, the Russians continue to look for opportunities to infiltrate the space between the positions of the Defense Forces and advance alone or in small groups.
“Right now the enemy has minimized movement but is trying very hard to infiltrate Serhiivka. They are looking for small gaps in the defense and mostly sending just one person.
Most likely in order to show that they have some success, that they entered the settlement, but they are being destroyed far on the approaches.
We had a case earlier, back in the fall, when one fighter also walked with a flag to one facility, to an industrial zone in our area of responsibility. Our fighters destroyed him and took that flag — he was carrying the flag of the Russian under-federation and his unit.
Now they are using a similar tactic, but they are still very far from the settlement. No matter how hard they try to reach it, they cannot”, — Dmytro Kushko reported.
The enemy is attempting to develop the production of naval drones and copy successful Ukrainian practices — both technical solutions and tactics.
Fighting continues in the northern part of the city of Pokrovsk in the Pokrovsk direction. A mechanized assault was repelled there the day before.
