An 18% decrease in the use of FPV drones by Russian forces in February is likely the effect of strikes on enemy UAV arsenals.
This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on March 9.
“For the first time since 2024, when we conducted the Kursk offensive operation, our troops in a month regained control over a larger area of Ukrainian land than the enemy captured during the same time”, — he stated.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized that a counteroffensive operation is ongoing in the Oleksandrivsk direction.
According to him, airborne assault forces regained control of 285.6 square kilometers over the past month. In total, since the beginning of the operation, control has been restored over more than 400 square kilometers of territory.
At the same time, in many other sectors Ukrainian soldiers are restraining the enemy through active defense and in some places are making advances.
“The Russian aggressor has an almost threefold numerical advantage, but due to our active actions it is forced to postpone the dates of its planned operations, patch holes in its defenses, and redeploy troops from other directions. We are also striking the enemy on its own territory”, — said Oleksandr Syrskyi.
In February, 85 targets were hit by DeepStrike assets.
“Taking into account previous periods, we are seeing a cumulative effect — a 24.8% reduction in the total volume of oil refining in Russia”, — he emphasized.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also highlighted a successful missile strike on the Votkinsk plant in Udmurtia, which produces Iskander-M, Oreshnik missiles and others.
In February, the missile forces carried out 228 strikes, while the Air Force aviation conducted 104. In addition, Ukrainian UAVs completed 293,800 special combat missions.
During the meeting, Oleksandr Syrskyi heard reports on logistics support, engineering and fortification works, restoration of combat capability of units, the state of law and order in the troops, and other issues.
According to him, not everything comes easily, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding the line, increasing capabilities, analyzing mistakes, and working to correct them.
“During my trips to the troops, many brigade commanders ask for help with armored vehicles. We are also resolving this problematic issue”, — noted Oleksandr Syrskyi.
He added that in February the trend regarding the receipt of international military aid slightly improved. However, the main source of military equipment remains its restoration and repair by Ukraine’s own forces — in February this indicator increased by almost a quarter compared to January.
“I thank the commanders for their conscientious and professional work. According to the evaluation results of commanders’ performance, the highest rating in February was received by the commander of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Oleh Apostol.
But above all, I sincerely thank every Ukrainian soldier. After all, it is the soldier who carries the main burden of the war for Ukraine on his shoulders. Thanks to the soldier’s efforts, our army holds the line, moves forward, and liberates Ukrainian land”, — Oleksandr Syrskyi concluded.
