The drone war on the front line is simultaneously a war of logistics.
At present, the main tasks of Ukrainian defenders are to destroy the enemy’s supply lines and preserve their own.
This was stated during an Army TV stream on March 3 by Captain Rostyslav Yashchyshyn, head of the communications department of the 63rd Mechanized Brigade.
“The catalyst for the enemy’s activity is the performance of our unmanned systems. One could say that throughout February the enemy pushed quite actively because our battalion of unmanned systems once again ended up in the top ranks — if I’m not mistaken, in sixth place by the number of enemy forces destroyed.
So we are talking about the fact that they continue to throw large resources in, continue trying to maintain this intensity that is vitally necessary and important for them. But the result is the same.
Even if someone occasionally manages to infiltrate somewhere on the outskirts of Lyman, he will still be destroyed — he will simply live a little longer. But speaking generally about the enemy, they are destroyed every day and in large numbers”, — he said.
Enemy activity remains consistently high and they do not abandon their intentions to capture the city.
“It cannot be said that the enemy has become slower or less active. There is another point worth mentioning, in my opinion. We are now talking not only about a drone war but also about a war of logistics.
We know for sure that the enemy is trying, with the help of various engineering structures, to organize crossings over different water obstacles. Of course we destroy them. But at the same time the enemy does the same.
That is, we also try to create certain engineering structures across water obstacles, and the enemy destroys them in exactly the same way. So now it is a war of logistics. Whoever shows greater ingenuity, a better idea, will be able to use better terrain and win a better foothold for conducting combat operations”, — the serviceman explained.
The officer emphasized that despite the difficult situation, the military firmly holds Lyman and is confident in victory.
“The situation is difficult, of course. It has been difficult for us for three years already. Our brigade has been on the Lyman direction for exactly three years, and it has been difficult since the first day.
And now, with the huge number of drones, it is even harder.
We are trying to hold Lyman. Everyone knows this. But it is difficult to do when the enemy is pushing from different sides.
In essence, we have been holding Lyman for so long, and I hope our guys will not give it up, will not concede it.
Thank God we have enough drones. Our pilots are of a very high level, very highly qualified. As you know, they were recognized by the President of Ukraine for their success.
And in the end, our infantry is not sleeping either, not standing still. We are also developing very actively.
Right now we have a lot of training within the corps. We exchange experience and adopt the best practices.
So we are ready for the fight. No one is going to give up — we will fight to the end and to victory”, — Captain Rostyslav Yashchyshyn emphasized.
