The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, held a working meeting on “small air defense”.

He reported this on March 3 on social media.

According to the Commander-in-Chief, the key role in this counteraction is shifting to interceptor UAVs.

For example, in Kyiv and its outskirts, such interceptor drones accounted for more than 70% of downed “Shaheds” in February.

During the meeting on “small air defense”, the results of fulfilling tasks at the first, second, and third tiers of intercepting enemy “Shaheds” were analyzed.

General Oleksandr Syrskyi heard reports on the implementation of the project to strengthen anti-drone protection of key administrative centers across Ukraine, on upgrading army aviation helicopters for better countering “Shaheds,” and more.

— Despite the significant deterioration in weather conditions and the shortage of means of destruction, we did not allow a decline in “small air defense” performance in February, — Syrskyi noted.

According to him, over the past month Ukrainian interceptor drones carried out about 6,300 sorties, destroying over 1,500 Russian UAVs of various types.

— We are searching for and finding answers to the new tactics of using “Shaheds” at extremely low altitudes. We are working with manufacturers to increase the effectiveness of various interceptor drone models. We continue forming and training UAV crews. We are equipping air-defense units of unmanned systems, — Syrskyi emphasized.

He added that a significant amount of work has been completed over the past year, but efforts must be intensified and accelerated — as this is primarily about protecting peaceful Ukrainian cities and villages, Ukraine’s energy system, and other rear infrastructure.

Following the meeting, the Commander-in-Chief assigned tasks to the relevant military-command bodies, including the newly established ones.

General Oleksandr Syrskyi thanked everyone involved in strengthening Ukraine’s air shield and destroying the enemy.
