Over the past five days, the number of assaults on the South-Slobozhanske axis has noticeably decreased.

Senior Lieutenant Dmytro Usov, head of the media liaison group of the Forpost brigade of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, reported this during an Army TV livestream on February 24.

“February has been quite difficult for us, but for the first time I can say that over the past five days there has been some relief. If we look at information from the General Staff reports, we can see that the number of attacks has generally decreased over the past five days. For example, on February 20 there were 237 attempts to break through our defensive line, and now, on the morning of the 24th, there were only 116. We felt this decrease as well — the number of attacks on our positions has also gone down.

Usually it’s about 10–15 attacks, but over the past 24 hours there were only two — toward Hrafske and Kutkivka. I think this is related to our offensive actions, to our counteroffensive, so the enemy’s attention has shifted somewhat in that direction”, — he said.

However, pressure on the Defense Forces’ positions continues. In particular, the enemy has increased its use of kamikaze drones.

“If we look at the number of kamikaze drones used over these five days, it rose from approximately 4,000 on February 20 — 4,700 — to nearly 9,000 kamikaze drones used over the past day. So the enemy does not allow us to breathe freely, but still, this is easier than assaults”, — Usov noted.
