President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council António Costa arrived in Kyiv on 24 February.

Ursula von der Leyen announced this on the social platform X.

EU leaders arrived in the Ukrainian capital on the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Ursula von der Leyen noted that this is already her tenth trip to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war.

She stated she came to Kyiv “to reaffirm that Europe steadfastly supports Ukraine financially, militarily, and throughout this harsh winter”.

“To underscore our unwavering commitment to Ukraine’s just struggle. And to send a clear message both to the Ukrainian people and to the aggressor: we will not retreat until peace is restored. Peace on Ukraine’s terms”, — the European Commission President emphasized.

António Costa noted that the purpose of the trip to Kyiv is “to ensure a just and lasting peace in Ukraine”.

This morning, the leaders of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden also arrived in Kyiv.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha welcomed the distinguished guests at Kyiv’s central railway station. He thanked the leaders for their “firm and unwavering support for Ukraine and our shared European values and principles”.

In addition, the Foreign Minister reported the arrival of Croatia’s Prime Minister Andrej Plenković in Kyiv.
