Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine has been going on for four years — despite the enemy’s initial plans to seize our state in “three days”.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense summarized the enemy’s losses in this war.

Over this period, Russia’s total losses amount to more than 1.2 million servicemen killed and wounded.

In 2025 alone, the Russian army lost 418,000 personnel.

The enemy remains unable to fully occupy Donbas. The price Russia pays for each kilometer of occupied Ukrainian land averages 156 soldiers. At the current pace of advance, it would take Russia several years to fully capture Donetsk region.

Losses grow monthly. In December 2025, 35,000 Russian soldiers were killed or severely wounded.

Throughout January 2026, UAV units of the Defense Forces eliminated nearly 29,700 Russian servicemen.

Alongside personnel losses, Russia continues to lose vast amounts of military equipment.

From February 24, 2025, the enemy lost 65 aircraft and 17 helicopters, 1,519 tanks and 2,925 armored combat vehicles. Artillery losses reached 13,884 pieces, and 223 air-defense systems were destroyed.

Additionally, 117,233 various types of UAVs and 1,283 cruise missiles were destroyed. The enemy also lost one warship and one submarine.

“Russia is unable to win on the battlefield. That is why it cynically continues its war against civilians and critical infrastructure”, —  the Ministry of Defense stated.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, more than 216,000 crimes of aggression and war crimes have been registered since the invasion began.

“Ukraine continues to fight for its independence and Europe’s security. Four years of full-scale war have proven: despite enormous losses and pressure, Russia has not achieved its strategic goals”, —  the ministry added.
