Volodymyr Zelensky: Real Opportunities to End the War with Dignity Remain
The President of Ukraine held a meeting with representatives of the Ukrainian negotiation group and heard a detailed report following the talks in Geneva.
He wrote about this on his official page.
“We discussed, in particular, aspects that could not be voiced over the phone. I am grateful to the team for clear work within the directives, and also for the patience in all conversations with the Russian side, which are far from always easy or adequate”, — Zelensky noted.
According to him, it is important that representatives of the President of the United States are also doing everything to make the negotiations constructive — and Ukraine fully supports them in this.
The Head of State believes that real opportunities to end the war with dignity remain and that the world’s ability to pressure the aggressor can significantly help bring reliable peace instead of war.
He expressed hope that soon, in February, it will be possible to organize another round of negotiations — and that this round may be truly productive.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine’s answers to the most complex questions ahead of the next meeting are ready. Priorities for the Ukrainian negotiation team in the next trilateral meeting and with the United States have been defined.
“We continue working to ensure that the leaders are ready to meet and resolve what cannot yet be resolved at the team level. The leadership format may become decisive in many ways, and Ukraine is ready for such a format”, — he said.
The President added that the team must also ensure progress on humanitarian issues. Prisoner exchanges must continue in the near future.
Separately, he acknowledged European partners:
“Europe is working to end the war, and Europe’s role must grow. We will coordinate with our partners. Ukraine always defends our common European interests. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine”, — he summarized.
