Not a “young girl,” but a trusted professional and a leader: the story of Oksana from the 40th Artillery Brigade
She can explain complex things in simple words and keeps her unit in shape not through loud speeches but through daily work.
Her story was published on the page of the 19th Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
She is 24. She is an officer of the 40th Separate Artillery Brigade named after Grand Duke Vytautas of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Oksana recalls that when she first joined the unit, she was upset that women were often not included in combat mission areas.
But Oksana had no intention of just sitting idly. She helped her comrades performing combat tasks in preparing documents and reports to ease their workload at least a little.
She commands dozens of servicemembers.
And for them, she is first and foremost a commander — someone who makes decisions, is responsible for people, and is accountable for results.
Oksana constantly learns, analyzes, reads, and improves her approach to leadership. Gender equality in the military is not about slogans — it is about professionalism, responsibility, and equal opportunities to serve and command.
She is an officer of a new generation. And this is already the norm for the modern Ukrainian army.
