Today over 85% of battlefield strikes are carried out by Ukrainian drones.
This was emphasized by Deputy Minister of Defense for European Integration Serhiy Boiev during a meeting with a European Parliament delegation.
According to the statement, EU financial support must be flexible and directed toward developing drone production in Ukraine, as well as advanced air defense systems.
“Today, more than 85% of battlefield strikes are ensured specifically by Ukrainian unmanned systems. Directing financial support to increase Ukrainian drone production is a prerequisite for achieving results on the front”, — Boiev stressed.
He emphasized the need for flexibility in using resources within the EU’s €90 billion support package.
Ukraine can increase UAV production severalfold with proper financing.
Boiev noted that drone production in Ukraine is approximately three times cheaper than in European countries. At the same time, Ukraine is working on mechanisms that would allow its combat experience and innovations to strengthen European partners.
Another key topic was further restricting the resources of the aggressor state. Sanctions and political pressure directly reduce Russia’s ability to finance the war, scale arms production, and mobilize manpower.
“It is critically important to increase pressure on the ‘shadow fleet’ and other sources of income for the Russian economy”, — Boiev said.
During a meeting with Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, Chair of the Defense and Security Committee, the Deputy Minister thanked the EU for its consistent support and solidarity with Ukraine.
