The soldier with the callsign “Fixyk” is the driver of a radar station. He used to earn a living by repairing cars and agricultural machinery. He first joined t
His story was published on the page of the 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade.
“I served near Luhansk and Sievierodonetsk in those years, in artillery. The artillery did most of the combat work then. I was a driver, towing guns, and a year later I became head of a repair section”, — the fighter recalls.
He later demobilized, but since 2023 he is once again at war.
“I had a deferment — my mother was ill. And when she was discharged from the hospital, the next day I went to the military enlistment office. And that was it — my story in the 33rd began”, — Fixyk says.
When the fighter arrived at the Zaporizhzhia direction, near Mala Tokmachka and Orikhiv, he became a driver in artillery reconnaissance. The unit received NATO-made combat equipment, and they drove to frontline positions to carry out tasks.
“Often we could stay at one position for only a week, or even a day or half a day. We had to constantly move because the Russians detected us and started firing everything they had at us. But within fifteen minutes we packed up and moved the equipment”, — he says.
Then came the Donetsk region. As Fixyk noted, at first it seemed that this direction was even easier than Zaporizhzhia — but then it became extremely difficult.
“With our equipment, we sometimes approached as close as four or five kilometers to the line of contact, and hiding became much harder. Because the most important part of our job is to reach the position and camouflage well. And then — to leave. Even shelling is secondary”, — he said.
Clearly, in such conditions, coordination becomes crucial. The team must work as a single whole.
Fixyk has been with his comrades for three years now. Everyone knows their task.
“My task, for example, is to deploy the antenna. I run to the HMMWV, quickly attach the antenna, set it up — and in a few seconds I run away. There were times when we were moving at night without lights, and suddenly two glide bombs hit the road”, — the fighter says.
With this dedication, Fixyk makes his contribution to Ukraine’s Victory.
“Our people have changed a lot over the last few years, and the Russians will never defeat us. If during the ATO our people had been as united as they are now, I think the war would have ended back then. We are strong, so we will definitely stop the enemy and not let him advance further”, — he summarized.
