The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and U.S. company RTX discussed speeding up the delivery of Patriot system missiles and transitioning to deep industrial cooperation to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense.
This was discussed during a meeting between Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Defense Serhii Boiev and a delegation from the U.S. defense-industrial company RTX, led by Raytheon’s Executive Director in Ukraine, Jennifer Pushner.
The parties discussed strategic areas of cooperation aimed at strengthening the protection of the Ukrainian sky and building domestic technical capabilities for servicing advanced weaponry.
Serhii Boiev emphasized the critical importance of air-defense systems for protecting Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure amid recent massive air attacks by the aggressor.
“You saw yourselves how important and critical air-defense capability is, as well as the pace at which we must act in this area. Last night, when one of the largest combined strikes against Ukraine was launched using a record number of ballistic missiles, the energy infrastructure suffered new damage”, — Boiev noted.
Representatives of Raytheon confirmed readiness to accelerate missile deliveries for Patriot systems through direct contracts and international support mechanisms.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the current state and plans for maintenance and support of air-defense and missile-defense systems in service with the Defense Forces.
Special attention was paid to the possibility of transitioning from supplying ready-made systems to deep industrial cooperation.
The Ministry of Defense is interested in establishing a base in Ukraine for servicing and repairing Western equipment.
Deputy Minister Serhii Boiev thanked the partners for their support and emphasized that expanding cooperation with leading defense companies is one of Ukraine’s strategic priorities.
