mykhailo valerievych ivanov is another “ordinary nobody” whom russian propaganda portrays as a simple “man in uniform”. But his victims remember something entirely different.
From September 1 to 5, 2022, in the urban-type settlement of Borova, Izium district, Kharkiv region, Ivanov and a group of similar “liberators” turned several days of local civilians’ lives into hell.
At that time, all civilians he targeted had already been demobilized from service. But that did not stop the occupier.
More information about this monster has been published by the Book of Torturers of the Ukrainian People.
The targets were those who had the courage to remain openly Ukrainian, and those who defended their country’s freedom in Donbas in 2014–2015.
These were the people ivanov and his accomplices searched for — and these were the people they beat, intimidated, and tortured.
He did not hide, hesitate, or “just follow orders”. He did it willingly.
Because where unarmed people are subjected to force — that is where people like Ivanov feel like “heroes”.
Since 2022, Ukraine has already brought 14 russian service members captured in war to criminal responsibility.
ivanov is of the same breed, only he has “lucked out” in avoiding trial so far. But his name, face, documents, and data are already public, and this material is part of a larger and cold truth:
Torturers have names, faces — and responsibility will catch up with them.
No russian myths about “liberation” can change the fact that in Borova, these people came not to liberate but to break.
ivanov was not just part of those groups — he participated in crimes documented by Ukraine and supported by victim testimony.
What truly demoralizes people like ivanov is not bullets. It is light. Such individuals are used to acting in the darkness of occupation, where their actions go unnoticed. But not here.
His name is known. His crimes are recorded. His data was published. There is nowhere to hide — neither behind “private rank”, nor “following orders”, nor russian propaganda trying to turn torturers into victims.
Time is not on his side.
Justice is inevitable.
And public memory is more terrifying for such people than any court.
