A heavy flamethrower system TOS-1A “Solntsepyok” was destroyed on the Vovchansk sector of the South-Slobozhanske axis by drone operators of the “Bulava” battalion of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporizhians.
This was reported by Lt. Col. Andrii Nazarenko, commander of the Bulava UAV battalion.
The destruction likely happened on Russian territory.
“The guys hunted this Solntsepyok for about two weeks. It regularly fired at our positions near Vovchansk. They tracked it, ambushed it. It was hard — it constantly changed routes, timing, and firing positions.
But eventually daily work, plus a bit of military luck, allowed us to spot it while moving. We caught it and destroyed it. Luck comes to those who work for it”, — he said.
This is not the first TOS-1A destroyed by Bulava.
Importantly, this time the system was destroyed on Russian soil, in Belgorod Oblast.
“This is our second Solntsepyok. The first was on the Vuhledar axis. As far as I know, we are the only unit that has destroyed more than one Solntsepyok during the war.
Moreover, this destroyed system is likely the first ever eliminated on the territory of the aggressor state, the Russian Federation. This became possible thanks to our growing ability to strike with FPV drones at distances of 20+ km”, — he said.
The video shows a powerful secondary detonation — the Solntsepyok was fully loaded with munitions and heading to strike Ukrainian positions.
“It was fully loaded. Most likely the crew was destroyed along with the vehicle. Detonation occurred immediately after the first hit. This is crucial — it’s not just the equipment destroyed, but a trained crew as well.
It is very important that we destroy the enemy on their own soil. And I want to note separately — the Solntsepyok was eliminated before it could fire at our positions”, — he emphasized.
He thanked the fighters involved:
“I want to thank the Bulava guys for their work. It required a lot of effort and long, daily, often invisible, but very necessary work.
The guys didn’t give up — they kept tracking the vehicle day after day. So to everyone responsible for the second Solntsepyok destroyed by Bulava — huge thanks”, — Nazarenko said.
