The Security Service of Ukraine exposed and detained three more individuals in different regions of Ukraine who publicly supported Russian armed aggression and justified war crimes committed by Russian occupiers.

This was reported by the SSU on January 30.

In Kharkiv, SSU military counterintelligence exposed a 55-year-old worker of a local auto repair shop who, using anonymous Telegram accounts, called on the occupiers to strike Kyiv with the “Oreshnik” missile system.

Additionally, a monk from one of the UOC-MP male monasteries was detained in the region. In pro-Kremlin social-media groups he openly called on Russian invaders to capture Kharkiv and “annex” it to Russia. He made similar anti-Ukrainian statements while speaking with parishioners.

During searches at his residence, law enforcement found more than 2.5 million UAH in equivalent value, some of it stored in Russian rubles.

In the Mykolaiv region, SSU cyber specialists together with the State Bureau of Investigation and National Police detained the head of a temporary detention facility who, under a fake name on TikTok, justified Russian war crimes, including the atrocities in Bucha.

A linguistic examination initiated by the SSU confirmed evidence of information-subversive activities in favor of the aggressor state.

During searches of the suspects’ homes, smartphones and computer equipment with proof of illegal activity were seized.

SBU investigators notified the suspects of charges under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Parts 2 and 3 of Article 436-2 — justification and glorification of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine;

  • Part 1 of Article 161 — incitement of national enmity and hatred.

All suspects are currently in custody. They face up to 8 years in prison with property confiscation.
