President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Holocaust is a clear lesson of history: when hatred against one people is not stopped, others must not remain indifferent or stand aside.
He wrote about this on social media on January 27.
“Aggression and contempt for the lives of people and entire nations must never prevail, and protecting life must be the responsibility not only of the brave, but truly of all humanity. Today, the world honors the memory of the victims of the Holocaust — millions of innocently murdered children, women, and men.
Millions of Jews who were killed by the Nazis. Unfortunately, the indifference of others contributed greatly to this catastrophe. Yet the world did unite to defeat the Nazis and achieve victory over this evil”, — the Head of State emphasized.
It was on this day, January 27, 1945, that the last prisoners of Auschwitz, one of the most horrific Nazi concentration camps, were liberated.
“This is exactly how the world must act today. Every time hatred and war threaten nations, unity is needed—unity that saves lives. Everyone in the world who truly values peace and calm must value them not only for themselves, but must do everything possible so that hatred never triumphs again, so that everyone who spreads it always knows that they will inevitably lose. Eternal memory to all the victims of the Holocaust!” — Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote.
