President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in his evening address on January 26, spoke about the situation in the energy sector, as well as a trilateral meeting in the United Arab Emirates between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia.
The address of the Head of State was published by the Office of the President of Ukraine.
“Energy — recovery is effectively ongoing constantly after strikes. This concerns not only Kyiv, but also Kharkiv and the region, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk region — Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Chernihiv region, Sumy region — all regions where the situation is most difficult”, — he said.
According to the President, Kyiv currently faces the most challenges.
“I expect intensified work from the Kyiv authorities — many cities and communities are ready to help, the government is ready to help, all instructions and capabilities are in place. One hundred seventy-four brigades are working — this is a significant resource that has now been directed to Kyiv. There are certain results, but they are insufficient. A significant number of buildings remain without heating, including those that have been without heating for a long time”, — Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
The Head of State instructed the government to allocate additional resources. The Ministry of Internal Affairs is working along its line — expanding support and heating points. Everyone in the government is working with partners to obtain additional equipment as quickly as possible.
“Separately, we spoke today with the Minister of Defense regarding the protection of energy facilities, as well as with the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The command level of the Air Force must be significantly faster in defense”, — the President said.
In addition, today he heard a full report from the Ukrainian delegation following the trilateral meetings.
“For the first time in a long while, there was again a format with Americans and Russians. We managed to discuss various issues of a more military nature — those concerning steps to end the war and real control and monitoring”, — the Head of State noted.
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, there are issues that must be prepared for the next meeting.
“Preliminarily, we talked about the teams meeting again on Sunday. It would be good if we manage to accelerate this meeting. Ukraine will be maximally prepared on all issues that must be discussed and agreed upon”, — the President emphasized.
The Head of State noted that Ukraine has always been and will always be on the side of peace, and the only reason this war still continues is Russia.
He emphasized that real results of diplomacy are needed, so that there is no impression that the Russians are using the negotiation process with a very cynical and harsh goal — pushing back new pressure measures on Russia that could work.
“Pressure is needed. Precisely pressure and its consequences — the result of sanctions, the result of blocking Russian operations — all of this works toward stopping the war. Partners must not forget this. I thank everyone who stands with Ukraine! I thank everyone who helps us”, — the President concluded.
