The First Separate Medical Battalion and the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Third Army Corps carried out a joint operation to evacuate a wounded soldier using an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV).

The operation was reported by the First Separate Medical Battalion.

During a small-arms firefight, a soldier of the 53rd Brigade sustained a gunshot wound and ended up in the gray zone. A decision was made to urgently evacuate him using robotic systems. The situation was complicated by the fact that the wounded soldier was effectively behind enemy positions.

The brigade made eight evacuation attempts. However, the command did not abandon the effort to fight for the soldier’s life.

The First Medical Battalion was brought in, and it was decided to use a UGV equipped with an armored capsule for transporting the wounded.

After unsuccessful attempts and the loss of two UGVs, the 11th attempt was successful — the wounded soldier was evacuated, delivered to a safe area, and provided with necessary medical care. He is currently continuing treatment at subsequent stages. His life is not in danger.

The total evacuation route length was 64 km, and the mission duration was 5 hours and 58 minutes.

The average UGV speed during the mission was 14 km/h, and the maximum speed reached 34 km/h.

“It doesn’t matter how many attempts it takes. It doesn’t matter how much equipment we lose. Every soldier deserves to be fought for” , —emphasized the First Medical Battalion.
