On the night of January 20, Russian forces carried out a massive aerial attack on the territory of Ukraine, using a total of 372 air attack assets.

This was reported on January 23 by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Among the weapons launched by the occupiers were Iskander ballistic missiles, the Tsirkon hypersonic missile, Kh-101 cruise missiles, RM-48U training missiles, as well as drones of the Geran, Garpia, and Gerbera types.

The total cost of the weapons used exceeds $131 million (over 10.2 billion rubles).

For comparison, this amount equals the annual budget of the city of Veliky Novgorod, with a population of about 220,000 people. It is also comparable to one-third of the annual budgets of entire regions of Russia — Kalmykia and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

For such a sum, it would have been possible to build a modern, fully equipped oncology center capable of saving thousands of lives.

In addition, these funds would have been sufficient to implement hundreds of regional and national social projects.

Such expenditures on an aggressive strike against peaceful Ukrainian cities are taking place amid a record budget deficit — last year it reached 5.6 trillion rubles ($70 billion), or about 2.6% of GDP.

In order to continue financing its war machine, Moscow is forced to raise taxes and excise duties and cut spending on the social sector as well as state investment projects.

Despite the Kremlin’s peace assurances and the systemic crisis in the economy and social sphere, Russia continues to finance a genocidal war against the Ukrainian people.

The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reminds that for every war crime committed against the Ukrainian people, there will be just retribution.
