In the Pokrovsk sector, in the city of Myrnohrad, the enemy continues to infiltrate with infantry. At the same time, the city’s defenders are ready to repel attacks using heavy armored vehicles.
This was reported on air by Bohdan Yanush, Deputy Battalion Commander of the 79th Air Assault Brigade, speaking to Suspilne Novyny.
According to him, the enemy attacks with infantry and continuously strikes using the full range of weapons at its disposal — from artillery systems to guided aerial bombs. No heavy equipment has been observed so far — likely, the enemy is waiting for a favorable moment to attack with armor.
“That they will try to push in with armored vehicles now is basically inevitable. Frosts have set in, there’s no mud. Accordingly, tracked and armored vehicles will be able to move in normally without the risk of getting stuck. But again — we have fiber-optic reserves with shaped-charge munitions, minefields, all of that is in place. Anti-tank assets are deployed”, — said the deputy battalion commander of the 79th Air Assault Brigade.
Within the brigade’s area of responsibility, the enemy has indeed wedged into the positions of the Defense Forces. They do not have full control over the city, but close-contact fighting with “infiltrators” is taking place almost constantly.
“Engagement distances can range from 50 meters to literally face-to-face. As for what the positions look like — it’s standard urban combat. Simply destroyed buildings, between collapsed floors in the remains of basements — servicemen. Positions of adjacent units from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard are holding and continuing to carry out their tasks. And we assist by ‘cleaning up the tails’ where the enemy has seeped through”, — Bohdan Yanush summarized.
