Bych Valentyn Yuriiovych — private, rifleman of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
Date of birth: August 4, 1980.
Place of birth: Krasnodar Krai, Russian Federation.
During the temporary occupation of part of Kharkiv Oblast, he participated in cruel treatment of the civilian population on Ukrainian territory.
More detailed information, including place of residence, address, and phone number of this “rusnya” individual, was published by the Book of the Torturers of the Ukrainian People.
From September 1 to 5, 2022, while in the settlement of Borova, Izium District, Kharkiv Oblast, Bych Valentyn Yuriiovych, together with accomplices, used violence against civilian residents.
The victims were people with an openly pro-Ukrainian stance, as well as Ukrainian citizens who in 2014–2015 participated in resisting Russia’s armed aggression as part of Ukraine’s Defense Forces. At the time of the crimes, they were not on military service, had no weapons, and offered no resistance.
The actions of the Russian serviceman consisted of physical violence, intimidation, and humiliation, which constitutes a direct violation of international humanitarian law and qualifies as a war crime.
On December 23, 2022, the Kotelva District Court of Poltava Oblast found Bych Valentyn Yuriiovych guilty of committing war crimes against the civilian population of Ukraine.
Sentence — 11 years of imprisonment.
The court decision was based on collected evidence, victim testimonies, and investigative materials.
This is an in absentia verdict that has entered into legal force.
War did not become an excuse and did not cancel responsibility.
In May 2023, Bych Valentyn Yuriiovych was transferred to the Russian Federation as part of a prisoner exchange.
The fact of exchange does not annul the sentence and does not remove his status as a convicted war criminal. His name, personal data, and crimes are recorded in court and investigative materials.
War crimes have no statute of limitations.
Anonymity for torturers is lost forever.
Russian servicemen who committed crimes in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine are increasingly facing justice. As of today, at least 14 citizens of the Russian Federation have already received in absentia sentences for war crimes against Ukrainians.
This process is ongoing.
Every name will be established.
Every crime will be documented.
Every torturer will be held accountable.
