Between branches and shadows: a Ukrainian drone drives an occupier into a deadly trap
In the Lyman direction, an unmanned systems operator of the Signum Battalion of the 53rd Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh demonstrated high-precision combat work while engaging enemy manpower in difficult forest conditions.
The combat video was published on the battalion’s channel on January 19.
The footage shows a Ukrainian drone tracking a target through dense forest terrain — among tree trunks, branches, and shadows, where any mistake could result in loss of control. In such conditions, the forest becomes no less dangerous than enemy fire.
The occupier noticed the drone and attempted to escape, maneuvering and hiding in thickets, changing direction and trying to disappear from view. However, the drone operator maintained full control of the situation.
Thanks to a high level of training and precise micro-control, the pilot tracked not only the target itself but also its behavior — movement traces, characteristic actions, and escape logic. Even when the enemy temporarily disappeared from the video, the operator quickly reestablished contact.
Final footage confirms the result — the enemy was hit. Another occupier ceased participation in combat operations against Ukraine.
Defense Forces emphasize that the use of unmanned systems combined with professional operator training allows effective enemy destruction even in difficult terrain while minimizing risks to Ukrainian soldiers.
The Lyman direction remains one of the hottest, but Ukrainian defenders continue to methodically eliminate the enemy, using technological superiority and battlefield skill.
