President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree enacting the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to impose sanctions against three individuals and two legal entities.
This was reported on the President’s official website.
Among them are a Russian boxer and fighter who publicly supports Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and endorses the actions of the occupiers; the Russian Paralympic Committee and its president; as well as the Russian Computer Sports Federation and its president. They use sports platforms to spread anti-Ukrainian narratives and Russian propaganda, attempting in this way to justify Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
By imposing these sanctions, Ukraine reminds the world, ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, that sport is not outside politics. After all, the sanctioned persons openly support aggression, war crimes, and occupation, thereby undermining the principles and values of the Olympic movement.
“Pressure on Russia must be maintained, and we will continue to work on synchronizing sanctions — not only partner decisions within our jurisdiction, but also Ukrainian sanctions decisions in partners’ lists. Already now, a significant part of personal sanctions of partners, as well as listings against legal entities, are proposals from Ukraine”, — the President emphasized.
