President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree enacting the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to impose sanctions against three individuals and two legal entities.
This was reported on the President’s website.
Those sanctioned include a Russian boxer and fighter who publicly supports Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and approves the actions of the occupiers, as well as the Russian Paralympic Committee and its president, and the Russian Esports Federation and its president.
They use sports platforms to spread anti-Ukrainian narratives and Russian propaganda, attempting to justify Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
By introducing these sanctions, Ukraine reminds the world ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games that sport is not outside politics.
The sanctioned individuals openly support aggression, war crimes, and occupation, thereby destroying the principles and values of the Olympic movement.
“I have approved further sanctions steps — decisions will follow soon. Pressure on Russia must be maintained, and we will continue working to synchronize sanctions, not only partner decisions within our jurisdiction but also Ukrainian sanctions decisions within partners’ lists.
Already now, a significant share of personal sanctions by partners, as well as sanctions against legal entities, are based on proposals from Ukraine”, — Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
