Defense Forces use analogues of Russia’s ‘Molniya’ on the Lyman axis
Drone operators of the Defense Forces of Ukraine are adapting to enemy UAVs — both by destroying them and by adopting operational experience. In particular, on the Lyman axis, the Defense Forces are using analogues of the Russian “Molniya” UAV.
This was reported by Olena, Deputy Chief of Staff of the “Mara” unmanned systems battalion of the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Mstyslav the Brave, during an ArmyTV livestream on January 16.
“Modern warfare is no longer about firefights or direct contact battles — it is a real battle in the sky. The enemy is becoming more cunning, modernizing its drones, bypassing our electronic warfare, and actively using fiber optics. Moreover, their fiber-optic drones have a fairly long range”, — she said.
At the same time, Defense Forces units are not lagging behind, including by learning from the enemy.
“Our forces and our guys are trying not to fall behind. In some areas, they even try to get ahead, assessing the enemy. In general, we adapt very quickly to enemy UAVs. We also have very powerful analogues of the Russian ‘Molniya’ that operate within our brigade’s sector”, — the servicewoman reported.
She separately emphasized the importance of modern technologies that fundamentally change the battlefield, bringing UAVs and ground robotic complexes to the forefront.
“The question is who is more cunning, who modernizes better, who learns faster, and who understands that infantry units should now constitute a smaller share than UAV units and ground robotic systems. Because the future belongs to robots, and losing a drone is far less tragic than losing a human”, — Olena stressed.
