In the Kostiantynivka area, the enemy has focused on destroying the logistics of Ukrainian defenders using fiber-optic “loitering” UAVs and radio-controlled FPV kamikaze drones.
At the same time, Defense Forces fighters are making every effort to protect their vehicles.
This was reported by Major Viacheslav Shutenko, commander of the unmanned systems battalion “Legion North” of the 44th Separate Mechanized Brigade, during an ArmyTV livestream on January 16.
“We take care of our vehicles and try to protect them. We use electronic warfare systems, and in addition to EW, we always have cover — a person riding in the back with an anti-drone gun, and so on. That is, we protect ourselves as much as possible from enemy drones”, — he said.
At the same time, Russians are trying to cut off logistical supply to the frontline positions of the Defense Forces.
“The enemy is very active on our axis. Logistics is a priority for them because they understand that by cutting logistics, they bleed the frontline dry. Therefore, from time to time, our vehicles are hit by ‘loitering’ drones and radio-controlled drones”, — the officer said.
In addition, vehicles often break down due to poor roads and adverse weather conditions.
“The conditions in which they are used are extremely difficult, especially in winter. Bad roads, high speeds required to deliver personnel and all necessary supplies to positions. As a result, these vehicles often break down, sometimes to the extent that restoring them is simply not practical”, — Viacheslav Shutenko explained and called for support for the Defense Forces in providing vehicles.

Four Ukrainian paratroopers stormed a Russian position: four occupiers were captured, while one was eliminated on the spot after resisting.
The occupiers are actively adopting the technical innovations and tactical approaches of Ukrainian UAV operators — it takes them only two to three months.
Russia’s losses at the front have exceeded the replenishment of the enemy army for three consecutive months.
Strikes against facilities related to Russia’s use of unmanned systems are one of the priority areas of combat operations for the Unmanned Systems Forces.
