In 2025, three new military lyceums were established in Ukraine under the authority of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

This was stated in an interview with ArmyInform by the Acting Director of the Department of Military Education and Science of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Candidate of Military Sciences, Colonel Maksym Kasiianenko.

The newly established institutions include:

  • the Military Lyceum of the State Special Transport Service (Mykolaiv);

  • the Military Lyceum of the Zhytomyr Military Institute named after S. P. Koroliov in Berdychiv;

  • the Ground Forces Military Lyceum located in one of the regional centers.

“Almost 50% of graduates of military lyceums — namely, the Ivan Bohun Kyiv Military Lyceum, the Military Lyceum of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy, and the Naval Lyceum named after Vice Admiral Volodymyr Bezkorovainyi — were admitted to higher military educational institutions in 2025. Our lyceums provide high-quality specialized education based on general secondary education to children from privileged categories. Currently, the percentage of lyceum students with benefits ranges from 40% to 80%”, — Maksym Kasiianenko emphasized.

He also stressed that military lyceums serve as a reserve of potential cadets for higher military educational institutions.

“According to our calculations, over the past five years, 54–60% of cadets have been graduates of military lyceums”, — Maksym Kasiianenko concluded.
