President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Speaker of the Saeima of Latvia Daiga Mieriņa to discuss the negotiation process for achieving peace, the diplomatic situation, and support programs for Ukraine.
This was reported on the official website of the President.
The Head of State noted Latvia’s significant assistance to Ukraine, particularly in defense, finance, international initiatives, and humanitarian support.
“We are very grateful to your people and all parliamentarians for your support. You support us everywhere, in every resolution. And thank you for supporting the Crimea Platform and for your participation. Please convey my best wishes to the President and the Prime Minister. We are very grateful that you have been with us from the very beginning and remain so to this day”, — Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
During the meeting, the peace negotiation process was discussed in detail. Daiga Mieriņa emphasized Latvia’s full support for Ukraine’s efforts and assured comprehensive assistance from her country.
“We will continue to do everything we can to help you become a full member of the European Union. And in all our rhetoric, we also always speak about NATO. We see you as a NATO member state. We see a place for you in this alliance, and we believe you must be part of it for the security of all of us”, — Daiga Mieriņa said.
The sides also discussed cooperation with partners within the Coalition of the Willing, Latvia’s further participation in the PURL initiative, co-production under the SAFE program, and areas of partnership in advanced technologies where Ukraine can share its experience.
