Drone operators of the Aquila strike unmanned aviation systems company of the Steel Border Brigade are striking the enemy in Kursk Region using fiber-optic drones.
This was stated in an exclusive comment to ArmyInform by Colonel Ivan Shevtsov, Assistant Chief of the 15th Mobile Border Detachment “Steel Border”.
In most cases, enemy equipment is now being struck on the territory of the Russian Federation at distances of 15–25 km from the front line, while infantry is being eliminated closer — at distances of 5–10 km from the line of contact.
“Last year, within the Guard of the Offensive Brigade ‘Steel Border,’ the Aquila strike unmanned aviation systems company was created. It is a large, powerful unit equipped with both reconnaissance and strike drones”, — he said.
Currently, the Aquila unit operates as part of the Steel Border Brigade in the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk directions.
“Aquila successfully destroys both enemy personnel and equipment. In the Kursk direction, drone operators strike targets on the territory of the Russian Federation. This direction is characterized by the fact that the enemy has virtually no ability to deploy equipment, so Aquila works more on rear areas directly within Russian territory”, — Ivan Shevtsov noted.
Commenting on a recently released video of combat operations in the Kursk Region published on the State Border Guard Service’s resources, he said that Aquila drone operators are currently focusing primarily on fiber-optic drones used to strike enemy equipment deep in the rear at distances of up to 25 km.
“Today, the main focus of the Aquila unit is on operating fiber-optic strike drones with spools ranging from 15 to 25 kilometers. It is at this distance that it is possible to hit the largest number of enemy vehicles”, — the border guard explained.
At such distances, border guards managed to destroy an enemy truck and several passenger vehicles, which was recorded on video.
“Here we can see that a truck was hit at a distance of 21 kilometers from the front line and several passenger vehicles at distances of 22 to 25 kilometers”, — Ivan Shevtsov reported.
At the same time, enemy infantry is destroyed at distances of 5 to 10 km.
“If we talk about enemy personnel, in the Kursk direction enemy soldiers are hit at shorter distances — from 5 to 10 kilometers”, — said the Assistant Chief of the Steel Border Detachment.
Taking the opportunity, the officer invited everyone interested to join the Aquila strike UAV unit within the Guard of the Offensive Brigade Steel Border to destroy the enemy using unmanned aerial vehicles.
“We have vacancies, we have high-quality training provided by experienced pilots who themselves have combat experience and destroy the enemy using UAVs”, — Ivan Shevtsov emphasized.
