Over the past several days, Russian occupiers have intensified attempts to breach Ukraine’s state border in the north of Kharkiv region. The results were disappointing for the Russians — the attacks were repelled, 21 occupiers were killed and 11 more wounded.
This was reported in an exclusive comment to ArmyInform by Ihor Lyzohub, Head of the Press Service of the Hart Brigade of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
From January 12 to 14, Russian forces intensified attacks on Defense Forces positions along the state border in the northern Kharkiv region within the defense zone of the Hart Border Brigade. Enemy infantry groups attempted to storm and seize positions in order to entrench themselves and advance deeper into Ukrainian territory.
However, these attempts to breach the border and seize border guard positions failed.
“Enemy movement was detected by aerial reconnaissance, and comprehensive firepower was applied. Primarily, these were strike UAVs — FPV drones and bomber drones with munition drop systems. Our artillery also engaged the enemy”, — the border guard reported.
Recently, the Hart Brigade released a video showing strikes on enemy assault groups and individual attackers. The footage covers engagements from January 12–14, when the enemy actively attempted to storm brigade positions.
“During these days, the enemy suffered significant losses. As a result of precise strikes by border guards, 21 occupiers were killed and 11 wounded. The enemy is retreating and unable to entrench”, — the serviceman said.
He also noted that most enemy assault troops do not use camouflage:
“Some servicemembers use white camouflage suits matching the terrain. But the majority move in groups of 2–4 soldiers in different directions without any camouflage”.
Their main tactic appears to be infiltration — bypassing Defense Forces positions and attempting to entrench somewhere. However, Ukrainian units control the airspace, and such movements, especially without camouflage, are detected immediately.
The officer emphasized that Russian activity has increased significantly in recent days.
