President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the new Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov.
This was reported on the President’s Telegram channel.
“I am grateful to parliamentarians for supporting Mykhailo. We immediately defined the first priorities of the Ministry of Defense”, — the statement reads.
The first priority, Zelenskyy said, is air defense. There are concrete decisions that must be implemented as soon as possible.
Second, in coordination with the military, the technological component to halt the advance of Russian occupiers on the battlefield must be significantly strengthened, and existing issues with frontline supply must be resolved. In particular, a prompt audit of defense financing will be conducted.
“Mykhailo will present ways to close existing gaps. Decisions are also being prepared to increase financial support for our warriors on the front line. We are separately working on drone supply — the Ministry of Defense must introduce a baseline level of drone provision for combat brigades and procure specialized drones to strike the enemy deeper along the front”, — Zelenskyy said.
Third, the Ministry of Defense will propose systemic solutions to problems that have accumulated within the Territorial Recruitment Centers.
“Decisions have already been made to ensure a fairer distribution of personnel among combat brigades. But much larger changes are needed in the mobilization process to provide more opportunities both for Ukraine’s Defense and Security Forces and for economic processes in our state. The Minister of Defense will also present a new ministry team in the near future”, — the President said.
