Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksandr Kozenko held a working meeting with a delegation of the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, led by Commodore Albert Jacobus de Smit, Director of Ukraine Project Management and Co-Chair of the Air Force Capability Coalition.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The parties discussed urgent needs of the Ukrainian Air Force and further steps to strengthen the aviation component of the Defense Forces.

Oleksandr Kozenko thanked the Government and people of the Netherlands for their unwavering support and noted Commodore de Smit’s leadership role as Co-Chair of the Aviation Capabilities Coalition.

Key focus was placed on improving the effectiveness of F-16 fighter jet use amid intensified enemy air attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, including:

  • possibilities for supplying additional aviation munitions;

  • expanding the range of weapons integrated onto F-16 platforms;

  • modernization of protection and countermeasure systems against enemy threats on combat aircraft.

Logistics and technical support were addressed separately. Participants reviewed ways to improve platform maintenance directly in Ukraine and increase European throughput capacity for scheduled aircraft servicing.

The parties agreed to further elaborate these issues and adopt specific technical solutions at the next meeting of the Air Force Capability Coalition.
